Swim Stop/Mini Sandbar Cruise

Our daily 120-minute Swim Stop Cruises offer a tranquil escape, allowing you to swim and relax away from the crowds. Set sail on a tiki adventure across the sparkling Gulf of Mexico waters, keeping an eye out for the abundant wildlife of the Florida Keys, both above and below the surface. We’ll navigate toward the airplane basin or the “mini sandbar,” providing the perfect spot to take a refreshing dip. Your captain will share a local’s perspective of Key West as you cruise along.
Please remember to bring your swimsuits, towels, and snorkeling gear if you plan to snorkel. Water depths range from 2-5 feet, depending on tide. Swimming ability is recommended but not required. All cruises are BYOB for alcoholic beverages, food, and snacks. We provide USCG-certified captains, pool noodles, coolers with ice, water, sodas, cups, and a Bluetooth radio to play your favorite tunes. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Yes, there is a type 1 PFD for every passenger. Along with all the coast guard requirements for the vessel including a first aid kit.
The US Coast Guard regulations for our tiki boats is 6 people plus crew…. this includes children… NO EXCEPTIONS! For larger groups, you may rent additional tikis and cruise together. We are NOT permitted to tether together while cruising, however if anchored on a swim stop we may tether together for larger groups (over 6 persons). For larger groups you will want to select the cruises departing from Mac’s Place Dock where we have multiple tikis. The other locations only have the option for one tiki (up to 6 guests).
The city of Key West and Key West Bight does NOT permit us to drop off or pick up guests anywhere except from our dock spaces at Schooner Wharf Bar and Mac’s Place. Please plan accordingly!
Yes, all routes are subject to change due to weather or current conditions, docking, USCG restrictions or captains’ discretion.
YES children are allowed. We don’t want them to miss out cruisin on the tiki boat. Children under the age of 12 are required to wear a life jacket which we have on board or you can bring your own (recommended). Please let us know if you plan to bring children so that we can make the appropriate accommodations for life jackets. USCG only allows 6 passengers per boat… children are considered a person regardless of their age. This rule is not negotiable, sorry! We also recommend when bringing children on board to reserve a private charter… if small children become fussy it may ruin other passenger’s experience.
Since 6 persons are the maximum number of guests permitted per tiki… If you are splitting your group it is recommended that you make reservations together under 1 name so that we know you are together! Payments can be split if you call to make the reservations. The online booking system might separate your party if you book your party separately in order to fill the tikis to their maximum capacity of 6 guests each.
The tiki boat has a cruising speed at around 4 to 6 mph.
All our Captains have been vetted and trained thru the U.S Coast Guard requirements.
All captains have been chosen based on their experience with boating and knowledge of the area.
Guest Cancellations
- A minimum of *5 days’ notice* is required for cancellations.
- Cancellations made with less than 5 days’ notice will receive a *gift
- certificate* (no refunds).
- No-shows are never refunded or rescheduled*, including reservations
- where a credit card is held.
- If a booking is made with a credit card on hold and you do not show up, *your
- card will be charged the full amount*.
- Trip Protection (Optional)*
- Purchasing Trip Protection allows you to *cancel or reschedule up to 24
- hours before your scheduled departure*.
- If Trip Protection is used, you will be reimbursed the full booking
- amount *minus the cost of trip protection and processing fees*.
- For more flexibility, we strongly recommend adding Trip Protection during
- booking.
Operator Cancellations
We reserve the right to cancel any cruise at any time due to weather, safety, mechanical, or behavioral issues.

We do operate in the rain as the tiki boats have a roof. However, the captain can decide at anytime to cancel due to conditions (typically high winds or thunder storms). We operate under USCG’s rules. The USCG does not advise going out if wind speeds exceed 20 knots. If you are unable to reschedule and still want to go on one of our cruises, the captains may under certain conditions can go out to cruise in calmer water which is protected by islands or mangroves.
Our Captains do work for tips, so gratuity is greatly appreciated. We suggest a 20% gratuity (on the regular price if using discount) for our captains… they are very experienced, knowledgeable, and work hard to ensure your safety and to provide an amazing tiki experience for our guests!

Besides relaxing with a cold drink we can pretty much book anything you can imagine. From bachelorette and bachelor party’s, corporate meetings, birthday party’s, weddings… you name it and we will try to make it work. Yes, we do have bluetooth-capable JBL 4 speaker systems that can sync to your phone and choice of music.
We do provide coolers with ice, cups, water and sodas. We do not serve any food or other drinks, however you may bring any snacks, food, or alcoholic beverages or you can also purchase your food and drinks from the Schooner Wharf Bar and Mac’s Place or bring them from elsewhere to bring aboard.
Our tikis are NOT equipped with restrooms. We strongly encourage you to use the restroom before leaving the dock. So please do NOT drink more than you are able to “hold” while on your tour!
Our sunset cruises depart from two convenient locations in Old Town Key West, both offering spectacular views of Sunset Pier, Mallory Square, and Sunset Key as we position the boat for the perfect sunset. Our most popular option is the 2-hour cruise departing from Mac’s Place (at the end of N. Roosevelt Blvd), while the 1.5-hour Makai sunset cruise departs from Schooner Wharf Bar in the heart of the Historic Seaport—a perfect choice for guests staying downtown who want to be close to the action after docking. Please note that while our captains always aim for the most scenic route around the islands, specific paths are subject to change based on weather, currents, and safety conditions.
We currently offer two distinct swim experiences departing from Old Town Key West, both of which include approximately 1–1.5 hours of water time. Our 2-hour Swim Stop Cruise departs from Mac’s Place (at the end of N. Roosevelt Blvd.) and heads to a “mini sandbar” off Rat Key. For a slightly longer experience, the 2.5-hour Makai Swim Stop Cruise departs from Schooner Wharf Bar; while it typically visits the same Rat Key sandbar, it occasionally ventures to a unique location by Wisteria Island. Please note that all of our excursions now depart exclusively from these Old Town locations to ensure the best access to Key West’s pristine waters.
