FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Booking your cruise is quick and easy—online or by phone @ (631) 778 – 1433 ! You can reserve your spot with a $199 deposit, and the remaining balance will automatically be billed one week before your cruise. Once your reservation is confirmed, detailed pickup and boarding information will be sent via text and email to the person who booked. We’ll also send a reminder with all the info about 48 hours before your trip!
For Private Bareboat Charters, the Captain Gratuity & Fee will be due upon arrival in the form of Cash, Venmo, Zelle (minimum $40 per HR)
The meet up location takes place at the restrooms at 25 Mill Dam Road, Huntington, NY, in the ball field parking lot. A Tiki tea member will meet you there to escort your party and assist with belongings to the boat which is a minute away.
A few days before your event, we will text and email the person who reserved the party with a detailed pickup guide, including an overhead photo of the lot—making it easy to forward to your group and avoid any confusion.
While we almost always board from this location, please note that on rare occasions, we may need to adjust slightly due to local conditions or scheduling. If that happens, we’ll provide clear and timely updates.
You must arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. This allows us to check everyone in smoothly and keep the trip running on time.
Please meet at the restroom area in the ball field parking lot for check-in. Do not walk directly to the boat, as we are unable to board guests until internal procedures are complete — and doing so will only result in unnecessary back-and-forth.
Parking is free and easily accessible, and restrooms are available at the meeting point for your convenience.
Timely arrival is essential to keeping everything on schedule and ensuring a great experience for you and your group.

How long is the cruise
While the time on the water is either 90 minutes or 3 hours, please budget a little extra time for the full experience.
- For 90-minute cruises, plan for just over 2 hours total, including check-in, boarding, and deboarding.
- For 3-hour cruises, allow for about 3.5+ hours from arrival to departure. We offer a mid-way restroom pit stop for 3 hour cruises.
This ensures you’re not rushed and can enjoy the full experience from start to finish.
For those wanting more time, we strongly suggest reserving extra time in advance as guarantee.
Weather permitting, you can discuss further extending your trip while underway with your Captain. We can charge the card on file used to make the original reservation.
Yes, children and minors are allowed on private charters only, with important safety requirements in place:
- The minimum weight requirement is 90 lbs OR children/toddlers must remain seated in a high chair for the duration of the cruise while wearing their life vest.
- Any child under the age of 13 is required to wear a life jacket for the duration of the charter.
We do not provide life jackets, so please bring your own. If you need assistance sourcing one, contact us in advance when reserving and we can arrange one for you. We are unable to provide life jackets on the day of your cruise.
No infants or toddlers will be allowed to cruise — no exceptions. - If there are any passengers under 21, there must be at least one parent or legal guardian over the age of 25 onboard.
- Absolutely no alcohol consumption is permitted by anyone under 21.
If any minors are caught attempting to drink, the cruise will be ended immediately with no refund and no credit issued.
These policies are strictly enforced for the safety of all guests. If you have any questions or special circumstances, please reach out before booking — we’re happy to help.
While there’s no restroom on the boat itself, we can make a stop if needed, however most cruises do not need it for the 90 minutes cruise, and you’ll have plenty of time to use the restrooms at the dock before and after your trip.
For 3-hour cruises, we make a quick pit stop or beach swim stop, where restrooms will be available if needed.
We keep it relaxed and flexible — just plan ahead, and you’ll be good to go! 🚤💦

No, our octagon shaped floating tiki bars are the only authentic tiki boat in Long Island. Our small tikis offer a much different and a one-of-a-kind experience compared to overcrowded pontoon boats claiming to be a tiki boat because they have added a thatch roof. Don’t sell yourself short and do the real thing!
Yes, Red Tide and the seaweed bloom has not affected any of our cruises and has not resulted in any cancellations.
Yes, there is a type 1 PFD for every passenger. Along with all the coast guard requirements for the vessel including a first aid kit.
The US Coast Guard regulations for our tiki boats is 6 people plus crew…. this includes children… For larger groups, please call us.
Yes, all routes are subject to change due to weather or current conditions, USCG restrictions or captains’ discretion. Our primary goal is to keep everyone safe while having a great time!
YES children six and older are allowed. We don’t want them to miss out cruisin’ on the tiki boat. Children under the age of 10 are required to wear a life jacket which we have on board or you can bring your own (recommended). Please let us know if you plan to bring children so that we can make the appropriate accommodations for life jackets. We recommend booking a private cruise if you have kids under 12 to ensure a family-friendly cruise.
The tiki boat has a cruising speed at around 5 mph.
Bookings are fully refundable if cancelled 48 hours prior to reservation. We reserve the right to cancel any tour at any time due to weather, safety, mechanical or behavioral issues. If your tour is canceled, you will be given a rain check to re-book at another time (this excludes behavioral related cancellations which will not be refunded). For weather related issues, we may “wait out” a brief shower, reschedule for another day during your stay, or refund if unable to reschedule. “NO SHOWS” will not be refunded or rescheduled!
We create unique outdoor memorable experiences that often become tradition! Get together with friends and family, birthday celebrations, bachelor/bachelorette parties, team builders, company outings, date nights, retirement parties, themed nights out – the possibilities are endless! The price includes a two hour rental, and the Cruisin’ Tikis Experience. You’ll meet your US Coast Guard Licensed Captain, and your party host who will do everything in their power to ensure your party has the time of their lives! Feel free to save a few bucks and bring your own beverages. We’ll have coolers filled with ice to keep your drinks cold, and a clean restroom aboard for when the drinks pile up!
Any group size works! We can accommodate as few as 2 and up to 26 guests. We offer both public and private options to ensure reasonable price points for different party sizes. Please note, we require a minimum of 8 guests total to set sail.
For a seamless and stress-free experience, we offer a list of experienced and vetted captains you can choose from. All of our captains:
- Hold a Master-level U.S. Coast Guard license
- Possess a valid Marine Radio Operator Permit (CROP)
- Are enrolled in a random drug testing consortium
- Are fully familiar with our vessels and local waterways
Booking one of our captains ensures you’re professional hands — so you can relax and enjoy the ride!
You’re welcome to provide your own qualified captain if they meet all necessary requirements.
Smoking cigarettes is against our policy, but anything electronic is allowed on private tours. If it requires a lighter, it’s a no-go.
The sound system is Bluetooth so bring your favorite playlists.
Cruisin’ Tikis operates rain or shine! If it is going to rain, we recommend bringing rain jackets and/or ponchos. It’s quite the adventure with our rain playlist ready to go! Captains only cancel tours if there are unsafe conditions, like high speed winds, thunder, or lightning at the time or close to departure, in which case you will receive a full store credit to be used on a future date. Credits can also be converted into gift cards as well.
It’s easy! Simply respond to your confirmation email with the date change request. Please ensure that you are outside the 7 day reschedule/cancellation time frame outlined in your confirmation email to receive your full credit for a future date.
Absolutely! Think picnic-style, grab-and-go. The best options are easy-to-eat, mess-free items like sandwiches, fruit, wraps, chips, and charcuterie boards — all super popular and perfect for cruising.
Just keep in mind:
- No open flames, grills, or sterno setups allowed on board.
- Keep it simple, portable, and shareable — finger foods work best!
For your tiki boat adventure, we recommend wearing comfortable, secure footwear like sandals, flats, or wedges. You might get your feet splashed—especially if you’re planning to hop in the water—so go for shoes you don’t mind getting a little salty or wet.
Please leave stilettos and heels ashore, as they can get stuck in the boat’s authentic wood decking. Whether you’re dancing on deck or diving in for a swim stop, the goal is to keep it chill, fun, and comfortable—just like our cruises. 🌊🩴☀️
Everything is BYOB—skip the bar prices and bring the beverages you enjoy! You’re also welcome to pack your favorite snacks. Think picnic-style: sandwiches, fruit, and charcuterie boards are always a hit on board.
We provide a cooler full of ice as well to store your drinks.
We do operate in the rain as the tiki boats have a roof. However, the captain can decide at anytime to cancel due to conditions (typically high winds or thunder storms). If you are unable to reschedule and still want to go on one of our cruises, the captains may under certain conditions go out to cruise in calmer water which is protected by islands or mangroves.
Our Captains do work for tips, so gratuity is greatly appreciated. We suggest a 20% gratuity for our captains… they are very experienced, knowledgeable, and work hard to ensure your safety and to provide an amazing tiki experience for our guests!
90 Minutes to 120 Minutes depending on the tour chosen. Most tours can be extended during booking. For special events or custom tours, please call and we can discuss your options.
Besides relaxing with a cold drink we can pretty much book anything you can imagine. From bachelorette and Bachelor parties, corporate meetings, Birthday parties, weddings… you name it and we will try to make it work. Give us a call for special requests or large group (over 6 persons) reservations
Yes, we have island music playing, or connect your music to our bluetooth Kicker speaker system and play your choice of music.
Guests must be 6 years old or older to cruise on the tiki boat.
Our tikis are not equipped with restrooms, so we encourage guests to use the restroom before leaving the dock. There are restrooms at the pick-up/drop-off locations and we can stop along the route at a bar or sandbar if a pit stop is needed.
